Milan Interior Design Fair EuroCucina

Our Visit to the Milan Interior Design Fair EuroCucina 2018

After returning from an inspirational visit to this year’s Milan Interior Design Fair EuroCucina /Salone del Mobile (EuroCucina) we noticed a common theme of nature inspired trends throughout many kitchen displays.

Here are some great ideas which could easily be used as inspiration for you to use when designing your own kitchen.

Bench Tops & Drawers

Bench top and drawer surfaces were predominantly the same material to allow for a stunning floating feeling of product continuation.

The island benches manufactured from stone were also placed onto the drawer and cupboard surface.

If the stone was not continued onto the cupboard face the material used would be of the same tones and naturally inspired appearance enabling an organic nature inspired finish.

Cabinet Lighting

Under cabinet and inner drawer lighting was a major factor in creating that ‘Lux’ feeling within the kitchen.

By lighting up the kick board area the kitchen appeared elongated and also created the cabinets to have a floating affect.

Lighting up drawers and having lit up wine fridges at the end of an island bench was also popular.

Kitchen Islands

Introducing a table attached to an island was another element seen on many of the kitchen displays. What a fantastic idea especially if your kitchen area is limited for space and cannot accommodate a dining table.

Oversized cluster pendant lights would be featured above the attached dining table. What was also unique was the way that the extended table was introduced to the bench. Often an unusual join would be created as a point of interest when joining the bench and table together.

We also noticed U shape kitchens where the bench was also utilised as a dining table.

Benchtop Surfaces

A stand out look was definitely bench top surfaces appearing to have a paper thin finish.

Wow, honestly the finished product was nothing short of stunning. To create this appearance the bench top had a shark nose finish to allow the stone top to give a paper thin appearance.

Chunky bench tops were not that evident as the thinner bench tops appeared to be the new look of the design fair.

Overall the main theme noticed throughout kitchens displayed at this years Design Fair was an organic and natural one.

Clever under lighting and continuation of the same product from bench top surfaces to cupboard faces was a dominant theme.

Oversized clustered pendant lighting placed above elongated bench tops created the impact needed to make many kitchens scream out the ‘WOW’ factor.

Hopefully you too can be inspired by our amazing journey to this years EuroCucina in Milan.
